Here are the basics of what I teach. Get in touch for more info and to discuss what you’d like to learn.
Wherever you’re at, I’m here to help you focus on your unique musical goals be they playing classical, jazz, rock or other popular genres, getting to grips with improvisation or music theory, composing or song writing, playing solo or playing in a band.

I’ve been playing piano since my early teens and have been surrounded by music since my earliest memories. Music has always been a communal activity to me and passing along its secrets to others has always felt equally important to me as my own learning and discovery.

I have taught and coached hundreds of people of all ages following a wide range of styles. Whatever you age or experience, I can help you improve and get more from your music.

Beginner

Just starting out?

I can set you on the track. I strongly believe that beginning material can and should still be good music. I can quickly help you find your style and start playing the music you love.

Intermediate

Playing for a while but stuck in a rut?

I can motivate and help you establish clear objectives to ensure progress. Get you practicing the right things to meat your goals as well as introduce you to a wealth of exciting and new material.

Advanced

Want to push your playing to the next level?

I can assess your strengths & weaknesses, help you tackle challenging material and refine your technique as well as teaching you higher concepts of musical interpretation and performance.

What to bring to a lesson:

  • Pen and paper
  • Music you’ve been working on or would like to learn
  • A recording device if you like to record your lessons

A typical one hour lesson:

  • Warmup - some movement exercises
  • Review your progress - make corrections
  • Explore new material and review your goals
  • Homework - what to practice for next week

Biography

Sharma teaches Jazz, Classical and Popular piano as well as Music Theory, Songwriting, Composition, Arranging & Orchestration.

Gradiating from Goldsmiths College, University of London with an BA in music, he studied classical piano under Maria Kravinsky, Jazz, Arranging, Film Music and Orchestration under Simon Deacon and Ian Gardiner and Contemporary Composition Techniques with renowned composer Roger Redgate.

Since his early teens he has been involved in musical ensembles playing Jazz, Classical and Popular genres alike. He has a unique and insightful approach to teaching which enables him to effectively respond to the needs of the student and allow them master what they want to achieve.
