“I’ve been having lessons with Nat for a couple of years, both electric guitar and bass guitar. Nat’s knowledge about different instruments and music styles has made me want to learn more about styles and techniques I wasn’t that interested to start with, mainly due to the fact that he enjoys doing the lessons and exploring different things as much as myself when we are in class. My instrument skills, music theory, improvisation, all have improved a lot since I started with him.”
When you come to me for music lessons I offer a great degree of flexibility in adapting my teaching style and content to take you exactly where you want to go.
If you know where that is then we can simply devise a plan and set off…
But if you find yourself at a loss, don’t worry. I can help you set your goals and we can work together to make sure you get there in style!
The guitar is a fantastically versatile instrument that has quite rightfully ruled as the king of popular music throughout the 20th century and into the 21st. And yet in its classical incarnation it is a beautiful and intimate musical companion. I offer Guitar Lessons for Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Classical guitar in a wide range of styles (just ask whether I can teach it!).
The electric bass guitar has led a quiet yet powerful revolution in 20th century popular music. Commonly underrated as a mere support instrument, it is in fact a powerful and fascinating tool which literally glues a band together.
I offer Bass Lessons for 4 string fretted bass and fretless bass. I can show you how to convert your guitar skills to the bass, or how to play it from scratch.
The Piano as an instrument is as beautiful as the classical guitar , with a vast and challenging solo repertoire. In popular music the piano rivals the guitar with it’s ability to create exciting accompaniments. In addition it plays a special role in western music as the “master-key” of understanding theory. No matter what other instrument you play, a good grasp of the piano can immensely aid your understanding of harmony and composition.
It is possible to play and compose extremely well without formally understanding music theory. In fact all the greats had an intuitive understanding of music that they gained through hard work and their native genius. However by learning music theory you can take a short cut to discover what is and what is not likely to work musically.
